Organic Luxury Skincare is like gut health for your skin!
The smudging of herbs is known to date back to prehistoric times. Long before our great - grandparents were born!
Smudging is an ancient ceremonial ritual that originates from Native American culture. The act of Smudging, or burning of specific herbs for therapeutic and medicinal properties is an ancient ritual that cleanses a specific space of negativity as it allows for the manifestation of positive energy. The overflow of abundance, aromatherapy scent and ritualistic steps of smudging promote a more peaceful, mindful, purified and balanced sense of self.
What is a Smudge Stick?
A smudge stick is a bunch of bundled dried herbs, usually hand tied together in the shape of a small thick stick. Common forms of smudge sticks are Sage, Cedar, or Yerba Santa.
We prefer to use White Sage as our smudge stick of choice. White Sage is one of several types of sage. It is known for being of the highest quality and is a powerful tool for cleansing negative energy. Recent scientific revelations have discovered that smudging has a significant anti-bacterial effect.
When should I Smudge?
Ok, let's face it. We're all going through a little something right? Whether you were stuck in traffic, hit by the Rona, misplaced your cellphone, received bad news, ended a toxic relationship or lost a loved one, we've all fallen victim to negative vibes. The best way to clear the air and the energies around you is by smudging.
Feel free to smudge anytime your vibe is off!
Here are some examples of how to make smudging a vibe
What should I do when I Smudge?
Step 1. Begin with your blessings of thanks giving and prayer to the most high and enlist the spirit guides to help you. Pray over your smudge stick of choice and ask the spirits that it be blessed with good vibes, good intent and positivity.
“Cleanse this space, remove the past. Fill this place with joy and love.”
Step 2. Light your smudge stick using a lighter in a circular motion and allow the smudge stick to catch fire. Once the smudge stick begins to smoke, blow the fire out and allow the smoke to fill the air. Watch the smoke as the energy around you will cause the smoke to move in the direction of the highest energy frequency.
Step 3. Use an Abalone shell to catch any ashes that may have fallen from your smudge stick.
Step 4. Choose what you want to purify or cleanse. You can cleanse yourself or any other noun that's in need of purification. It is best practice to cleanse yourself first while holding the Smudge stick in the dominate hand as you outline the stick around your body in a circular motion allowing the smoke to purify you. A turkey feather can be used to move around the smoke.
Step 5. If you're cleansing your home perform the ritual one room at a time starting at the doorway of the room, then smudge the smoke around the doors, the walls and each corner of the room.
It is recommended when smudging an entire house to start in the kitchen. Repeat this process for every room in your home.
Step 6. Once your entire home has been smudged with smoke, end the ritual by giving thanks to the most high and the spirit guides. Ask that the smoke takes away all things that no longer serve you and remove any negative energy in the house. Open all doors and windows to allow the smoke and negative energy to be cleared and carried away by mother nature.
